Cross Country Earns National Academic Honors

Team recognized by USTFCCCA, while Earl, Marks and McCardell earn individual acclaim
EVANSTON, Illinois - Northwestern cross country has been named a 2022 All-Academic Team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Thursday. In addition, graduate students Ari Marks and Rachel McCardell, and sophomore Ava Earl, were recognized as All-Academic Athletes by the organization for the 2022 campaign.

Overall, there were 171 women from 88 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2022 season. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
The 2022 NCAA Championships were the third appearance in program history for Northwestern, and the first in two decades as the team previously competed in 1985 and 2002.
