ALLENDALE, Mich. – The 'Cats commenced their 2023 indoor season this weekend at Grand Valley State's Bob Eubanks Open. Katherine Hessler opened the meet for the 'Cats with a first place finish in the mile and the tenth fastest time in program history (4:58.23). Battling close behind was first-year Maddy Whitman, with a third place finish.

Hessler and Whitman came back to pace the Women's 3,000m, guiding the 'Cats to a 1-2-3-4-5 finish. Rachel McCardell won the race with a time of 9:26.89, the second fastest in program history and the fastest time in the Big Ten conference for the 2023 indoor season. Anna Hightower took second place in the 3000m (9:41.25). The time places her at ninth fastest time in program history. Rounding out the sweep were teammates Ava Earl, Kalea Bartolotto and Olivia Verbeke finishing 3-4-5 respectively.

The 'Cats look forward to competing close to home this Friday at DePaul's Blue Demon Alumni Classic at Chicago's Gately Park.
