Four 'Cats Claim End of Season Honors

Evanston, IL - Northwestern Baseball saw two student-athletes, outfielder Ethan O'Donnell and shortstop Patrick Herrera, named Second Team All-Big Ten while starting pitcher Sean Sullivan was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team.

Starting Pitcher Mike Doherty was named Northwestern's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

O'Donnell capped off a historic sophomore season that saw him break Northwestern's single-season doubles record with 24 two-baggers, as the Highlands Ranch, Colorado native hit .320 during his second season in Evanston.

Another underclassmen joined O'Donnell among the conference honorees, as Herrera's team leading .336 batting average and .457 on-base percentage saw him take home All-Big Ten second-team honors.

Sullivan was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team after one of the most dominant seasons by a first-year starter in Northwestern history. The Andover, MA native claimed two Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors and a Big Ten Pitcher of the Week award throughout a season that saw him go 5-2 with a 4.45 ERA while striking out 78 batters across 13 starts.

Doherty's Sportsmanship Award came after a season that saw one of Northwestern's senior leaders rebound from injuries to deliver for the team out of the bullpen, including earning a save in the Wildcats victory over No. 23 Maryland.

Northwestern capped off a 24-27 season with a series victory over Minnesota.
