The ‘Cats competed and showcased their depth at the Wisconsin Classic this past Friday.

MADISON, WI — The Northwestern Wildcats showcased their depth at the Wisconsin Classic this past Friday, with graduate student Amanda Mosborg winning the 3000m race in 9:49, a personal record by nine seconds.

"I felt so much love from my team today, and it helped me run my best," said Mosborg. "I had only one shot left to show what I could do, so I knew I had to take it. I am so excited to watch where this team goes. I wish I could stay for longer!"

Coming in second place in the 3000m was junior Kalea Bartolotto with a time of 9:56. Maggie Mason ran a personal best of 14 seconds, finishing in 10:03. Also in the 3000m was first-year Whitney Currie (10:15), first-year Audrey Bannister (10:22), junior Elizabeth Bulat (10:30) and first-year Fiona Lenth (10:36).

Sophomore Emily Casaclang, who competed unattached, clocked a personal best in the 1500m race at 4:31 and came in second place overall. Also in the 1500m was first-year Deepti Choudury (4:37), senior Hannah Hall (4:39) and junior Kayla Byrne (4:52).

Not only was this race a way for Mosborg to end her track season with confidence, it was also her final college race for the 'Cats. Mosborg's efforts on the track and in the locker room this year demonstrated hard work, maturity, and gratitude that set an example to the rest of the team.

Twelve runners represented the 'Cats in the 1500 and 3000 meter races. "This race exemplified the depth of our team. We showed off the hard work that we've been putting in this season," said first-year Maggie Mason.

"Being able to finish off with the 3k distance here at Wisconsin was great because I was able to incorporate some speed into a shorter race," Mason said. "I wouldn't have been able to do it without the supportive and fun culture that our team and coaches have cultivated here at Northwestern."
