'Cats Fall at Georgia Tech, 4-3

ATLANTA, Ga. – Despite a lead with an early doubles point, Northwestern could not knock off Georgia Tech on the road on Sunday in a 4-3 defeat.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 1-3 while the 'Cats fell to 1-3. Georgia Tech was ranked as the No. 10 seed in the ITA Kickoff Event last weekend and was receiving votes in this week's ITA Top 25 poll.
Northwestern saw wins in singles from Maria Shusharina at No. 2 and Ema Lazic at No. 5. Shusharina secured an impressive 7-5, 6-3 win over No. 69 Ava Hrastar, while Lazic won 7-6 (2), 6-2.
The 'Cats got off to an early start thanks to doubles wins from Justine Leong and Christina Hand at No. 3 and Clarissa Hand and Shusharina at No. 2.
The Wildcats have their first home dual of the season next Sunday at Notre Dame at Combe Tennis Center.
