The 'Cats would get on the board first after Vincent Bianchina and Patrick Herrera scored when Jay Beshears' towering shot into center field dropped for an error. In his second start of the season, Mike Doherty allowed nine runs and struck out three over four innings of work.
Tommy D'Alise would pull two runs back for Northwestern on his first home run of the season, an eighth-inning blast to center field.
The Wildcats are back in action for a doubleheader on Saturday, with game one set to begin at 3 p.m. CT and game two scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
