Positively Dr. Gragg - December 2022

Wildcats,
The end of the calendar year is an appropriate moment to look back on everything that has unfolded over our previous 12 months. Time moves so fast in our industry, with seasons overlapping, 25% of our students graduating each June and a new 125+ arriving shortly thereafter, and a next practice or game to prepare for always on the horizon.
Our competitive success always gets the most attention, and speaks for itself, from championships and landmark wins to All-Americans and major award winners. In the classroom, our student-athletes continued to set a national standard, with some of the top Academic Progress Rate and Graduation Success Rate scores in the NCAA, and record-setting numbers of Academic All-Big Ten and Distinguished Scholar honorees. Socially, we sent a delegation to Selma and Montgomery as part of the B1G Life Series, introduced a staff-wide inclusion education program and hosted a wide-ranging conversation and celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
These highlights only scratch the surface of what has been accomplished by our team over the last 12 months. Through wins and losses, our commitment to excellence and a culture that supports the holistic development of our student-athletes never wavers. No year is perfect for anybody, but when we look back at the totality of our 2022, Northwestern Athletics & Recreation has much to be grateful for and so much to be proud of.
December is a time to reflect not just professionally, but personally, and I hope each of you has the opportunity this month to do that surrounded by loved ones across the holiday season.
Positively,
