McCardell leads the way as 'Cats cap historic season alongside nation's best in Stillwater
STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- Led by senior Rachel McCardell, Wildcats cross country wrapped up the 2022 season on Saturday at the 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships at the Greiner Family Oklahoma State University Cross Country Course.

McCardell, a leader of the 'Cats pack throughout her career, capped her decorated resume as Northwestern's top finisher on the 6K course, crossing the line in 20:43.3. She was followed by junior Ari Marks (21:01.4), sophomores Katherine Hessler (21:05.9) and Ava Earl (21:18.4), junior Kalea Bartolotto (21:33.1) to conclude the scoring, sophomore Anna Hightower (21:42.3) and senior Olivia Verbeke (22:19.2). As a team the Wildcats finished in 30th postion, with 714 points.
On the heels of a fall season that undoubtedly advanced the program's standard of excellence, coach Jill Miller's Wildcats will now prepare for the upcoming indoor track season.
