Wildcats Off to Bright Start on Day 2 of Purdue Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Jasmine Nocentini continued her scintillating form this week, posting the second-fastest time in school history in the 100-yard breaststroke as Northwestern Swimming and Diving aims to continue its impressive run on night two of the Purdue Invitational.
Nocentini, whose 58.37 ranks third in the country this season, was one of 15 Wildcats to qualify for a championship final tonight.
Tyler Lu, Tona Zinn and Ryan King set the tone for Northwestern as they secured second, third and fourth spots heading into the finals of the men's 400-yard individual medley.
The event is one of three A-finals where the Wildcats will have triple representation. Ally Larson, Ashley Strouse and Lola Mull grabbed the second, third and seventh places in the women's 200-yard-freestyle, and Miriam Guevara, Justine Murdock, and Riley Huddleston will swim in the championship heat of the women's 100-yard backstroke.
Northwestern will also have swimmers in the A-final of the women's 400-yard individual medley (Hana Shimizu-Bowers), women's 100-yard butterfly (Guevara), men's 200-yard freestyle (Jan Karolczak and Aleksa Bobar), men's and women's 100-yard breaststroke (Kevin Houseman and Hannah Brunzell), and men's 100-yard backstroke (Lu).
Session four begins at 6 p.m. E.T. at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center with finals of the men's and women's 200-yard medley relays, men's 100-yard butterfly, women's 1-meter diving, men's 3-meter diving, and men's and women's 800-yard freestyle relays also on display.
