EVANSTON, IL - Northwestern Swimming & Diving hosted their final home meet of the season on Saturday, as the Wildcats battled Big Ten foe Wisconsin and claimed events in the relays, breaststroke and sprints while sweeping the diving events.
In the Men's 200-Yard Medley Relay, Manuel Martos Bacarizo, Kevin Houseman, Olympic medalist Federico Burdisso and Andrew Zhang helped the Wildcats take down the Badgers, while Emma Lepisova, Sophie Angus, Maddie Smith and Jasmine Nocentini completed the event sweep on the women's side.
The dominance continued on the diving boards, where Markie Hopkins, Jaye Patrick, Labonita Ghose and Leah Parsons gave the Wildcats the top four spots in the Women's 3M. The win gives Hopkins a pair of victories in the 3M, as the 2020 Big Ten Champion in the 10M continues her impressive junior season. In the Women's 1M, Jaye Patrick got the win for Northwestern, after taking the same event against Indiana and UIC.
On the men's side, Yohan Eskrick-Parkinson and Evan Labuda helped Northwestern sweep the top two spots in the 3M as both seniors dominated the final meet of their careers in Evanston. Parkinson already holds the school record in the event, but Saturday delivered his first victory of the 2021-22 season. Labuda made it two victories in the 3M this season after the senior took the event in the meet against UIC in Octover.
Back in the pool, Northwestern relied on strong performances from Hannah Brunzell and Kevin Houseman to sweep the 100 Yard Breastroke, as both NCAA Championship qualifiers delivered in one of their strongest events. Brunzell turned around and won the Women's 200 Yard Breastroke to add another medal.
Marcus Mok helped Northwestern claim all four events in the breast with a victory of his own in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. It was the same story in the splash and dash, where Andrew Zhang and Jasmine Nocentini won the 50M, with Nocentini also pulling double duty and taking the Women's 100-Yard Freestyle.
Burdisso added his second medal of the day in the Men's 100-Yard Butterfly, one of four events in which he has hit the NCAA "B" Standard Time this season
