Deakin, Davison Grab Marquee Wins Over Huskers

EVANSTON, Ill. – Ryan Deakin and Lucas Davison impressed against the No. 14 team in the country, as the Wildcat took four matches against Nebraska on Sunday.
Lucas Davison got the scoring started for the Wildcats in the fifth bout of the afternoon with a decisive 8-3 decision over No. 11 Christian Lance. The win marked the second Big Ten victory of the season for Davison, who also knocked off No. 5 Trent Hillger of Wisconsin in his Big Ten debut.
Michael DeAugustino put his No. 11 ranking on the line at 125 pounds against Jerimiah Reno, delivering a comfortable 6-1. DeAugustino has now won three of his first four matches in Big Ten play.
No. 9 Chris Cannon improved his winning streak to five-straight dual victories with a tight 5-4 decision over Dominick Serrano. The reigning All-American Cannon is now a perfect 4-0 in Big Ten duals, and sits at 10-1 on the season.
In a top-five matchup at 157, No. 2 Ryan Deakin found a way past No. 5 Peyton Robb with a 4-2 decision. Racking up nearly all his riding time in the third set, Deakin imposed his will over Robb in his first match of the season at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Northwestern is back in action next weekend when the 'Cats travel downstate to take on the No. 23-ranked Illinois Fighting Illinois on Saturday, January 29. The dual kicks off at 2 pm CT, with coverage live on Big Ten Network.
