Wildcats Host Oregon at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Non-Conference Headliner

EVANSTON, Ill. – On December 21, Northwestern will welcome Oregon to Welsh-Ryan Arena for one of the best nonconference matchups in recent history. Fans looking to watch two of the most exciting programs in college basketball in person can do so here.

Both Northwestern and Oregon were seven seeds in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. In 2020, before COVID-19 canceled the NCAA Tournament, both teams were set to host NCAA Tournament games as top-three seeds and regular season conference champions. The Ducks most recently made the Final Four in 2018-19.

The December non-conference finale will also feature the reunion of Veronica Burton and Sedona Prince, who suited up as teammates this summer for USA Basketball at the FIBA AmeriCup. The Ducks are led by All-Pac 12 selections Nyara Sybally at forward and Te-Hina Paopao at guard.

Northwestern returns three starters from last year's NCAA Tournament team in senior guards Veronica Burton and Sydney Wood, both All-Big Ten selections, and senior forward Courtney Shaw. The 'Cats welcomed in a five-member recruiting class ranked No. 10 in the country by ESPN.

The Wildcats have six home games on their nonconference schedule before the titanic clash with the Ducks, and should be rounding right into form ahead of the start of the Big Ten schedule in December.
