Big Ten Golfer of the Year adds to crowded 2021 trophy case
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sophomore Irene Kim has been named a Second Team All-American by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, the WGCA announced Friday. She is the seventh Wildcats golfer to earn All-America recognition since 2014 under the tutelage of head coach Emily Fletcher and assistant Beth Miller.
The All-America honor is the latest in a busy awards season for the La Palma, California, native, She was selected as the 2021 Big Ten Golfer of th Year (Northwestern's third since 2015) and also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
The La Palma, California, native finished runner-up at the 2021 Big Ten Championships at TPC River's Bend, her fourth Top-5 result of the spring, and was the 'Cats top finisher at the 2021 Stanford NCAA Regional, the program's 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason.
