EVANSTON, Illinois -- Sophomore Irene Kim has been named 2021 Big Ten Golfer of the Year, the Conference announced Wednesday. She is the third Wildcats golfer to capture the honor since 2015.

The La Palma, California, native just finished runner-up at the 2021 Big Ten Championships at TPC River's Bend, her fourth Top-5 result of the spring. It also was announced Wednesday that she will lead the Wildcats into their 11th consecutive NCAA Regional, as Northwestern is headed to the Stanford Regional on May 10 in search of its eighth straight trip to the NCAA Championships.

Kim is the third Northwestern student-athlete to win the award since 2015, joining two-time winner Hannah Kim (2015, '16) and Stephanie Lau (2019). She also earned First Team All-Big Ten honors, and teammate Kelly Sim was named to the Second Team. Brooke Riley was recognized as the program's Sportsmanship Honoree.
