Women's Golf Takes Ninth at Silverado Showdown

NAPA, Calif. -- No. 16 Irene Kim takes her fifth straight top-25 finish this season as the 18th-ranked Wildcats finish ninth at the Silverado Showdown at the Silverado Resort and Spa.
The sophomore was closely followed by teammates Kelly Sim, Brook Riley and Jennifer Cai. Kelly Sim followed her victory at the PING/ASU Invitational with a 26th-place finish in Napa. Brooke Riley and Jennifer Cai both finished tied for 31st, Cai's best finish in her Northwestern career.
Jennifer Cai showed glimmers of greatness as she finished in the top-5 in total birdies on the weekend, while Kelly Sim remained very consistent, finishing with the second most pars.
Half the field finished 12 or more strokes over par on the weekend, proving Silverado to be a challenging course. The average score per round for the weekend was 3.96 strokes over par.
