No. 15 Northwestern Finished Sixth in a Competitive Field

PHOENIX – Junior Kelly Sim bested the field at the PING/ASU Invitational at Papago Golf Club with a -5 under over the weekend's 54 holes for the second title of her career.  No. 15 Northwestern finished sixth overall in a field of 15 teams.

Sim shot 69-70-72 and outlasted the competition after heading into day three with the lead, finishing one stroke ahead of four other competitors. Sim did her damage on the par-5s, finishing a whopping -8 on the weekend on those holess. Overall she made 11 birdies, tied for the third most, an eagle, and a steady 34 pars. 

Northwestern as a team was +7 for the weekend, with a low of -1 on day two of the invitational. 

Irene Kim was the next best finisher for the Wildcats, with an even score over the three days, good for a 13th place tie. Kim charged up the leaderboard and shot -4 on day two and -1 on day one. She was tied with her teammate Kelly su for the fourth-most pars at the event with 39.
