Women's Swim and Dive Sweeps Illini, Badgers in Regular Season Finale

MADISON, WI -- Northwestern swimming and diving wrapped up the regular season in Madison Saturday with a double dual meet against Illinois and Wisconsin. The women swept both both matchups in dominating fashion, besting the Illini 251-49 and the Badgers 200.5-99.5, to finish the regular season 4-2. The men lost their lone matchup of the meet, 156.5-143.5 to Wisconsin, as Illinois does not have a men's program. Men's swimming and diving moved to 2-3 with the loss.
At least for the moment, Northwestern names will run up and down the pool record boards in Wisconsin's Soderholm Family Aquatic Center. Saturday's meet was the second ever in the Badgers' new home pool after it was opened against Minnesota and Purdue in January. The Northwestern women established 11 new pool records while the Northwestern men claimed four of their own.

Each Northwestern team will be back in action later this month at the Big Ten Championships. Both dive teams will compete in West Lafayette, Indiana and the men's team will compete in Minneapolis, Minnesota Feb. 24-27. Dates and location for the women's Big Ten Championships have yet to be confirmed.
