Community Group of the Game Spotlight: National Girls and Women In Sports Day
1/19/2021 5:13:00 PM | 'Cats Give Back
At the Wildcats' away game against Wisconsin, the athletic department features National Girls and Women In Sports Day. There are several community groups who will attend this year's virtual event, and we encourage all young women ages 6-14 to join us for what promises to be both an educational and interactive program.
The date of the event is slated for Sunday, January 24 at 10 a.m. CT, one hour prior to the women's basketball game against Indiana at 11 a.m. CT. Participants will rotate through four different breakout rooms that will cover an important message related to health and wellness, each of which will be led by current Northwestern student-athletes. Following the breakout rooms, those in attendance will receive a behind-the-scenes glance into the women's basketball program and a live look at pregame festivities inside Welsh-Ryan Arena including the starting lineups and our 2021 intro video. After the conclusion of the event, all participants are encouraged to tune into ESPN2 and cheer the 'Cats to victory!
Registration is open through Thursday, January 21 and is limited to the first 60 zoom accounts registered. More than one child may participate via one zoom account, though we strongly encourage all participants to follow local, state, and federal health guidelines as needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day was first recognized by Congress in 1987 to highlight the positive influence that sports have on the lives of girls and women. Join us on Sunday, January 24, to celebrate past and current achievements of females in sports!
