Trautwein Named to Buster Posey Award Watch List

EVANSTON, Ill. - Sophomore catcher Michael Trautwein was named to the Buster Posey Award Watch List, the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced this week.
The award is annually given to the top catcher in college baseball. Trautwein was one of 60 catchers on the list, including five from the Big Ten.
Trautwein was already named to the 2020 Big Ten Preseason Honors list. The backstop is looking to build on his strong 2019 performance, where he earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
As a first-year, Trautwein started 43 games at catcher, hitting for a .243 average with a .322 on-base percentage. He also caught 16 runners stealing in 23 attempts, good for a 70% rate.
This season Trautwein has a 1.000 fielding percentage and has caught seven runners stealing on eight attempts. He has batted for two home runs as well.
