TAMPA, Fla. – Northwestern dropped the series finale to South Florida by a score of 10-5.

Trailing 4-0, The 'Cats got on the board in the top of the fourth inning. David Dunn led off the inning with his first double of the season, lining it down the left field line. He came around to score on a Leo Kaplan RBI single through the left side.

They tacked on another run in the top of the fifth inning after having the bases loaded with no outs. Casey O'Laughlin started the inning with a leadoff double, followed by two walks from Charlie Maxwell and Kyle Burnett Jr. David Dunn drove his third run in of the season in the next at-bat bringing the Wildcats within two.

The 'Cats tied the game up at four in the sixth inning on a two-RBI single up the middle from Maxwell. Northwestern started the rally with a Kaplan leadoff single, followed by two walks from Jack Anderson and Shawn Goosenberg.

Down three runs, the 'Cats tacked on a run in the top of the seventh inning, on an Evan Minarovic RBI single, scoring Stephen Hrustich from second base.

Quinn Lavelle started the game strong with a scoreless first inning. After running into some trouble in the third inning, Reed Smith came on in relief and got the 'Cats out of the third inning. Matt Gannon followed Smith, stranding the runner he inherited to finish the fourth inning. Coby Moe came on in relief in the bottom of the sixth inning after Anthony Alepra pitched into trouble. Jack Sauser relieved Moe to finish the seventh inning, before Jack Pagliarini finished the day on the mound.

Senior Leo Kaplan had a big series, going 6-11 with two RBI and two stolen bases. He is now batting .360 for the season. David Dunn also had a very productive series, notching five hits and a RBI for the Wildcats.

Chicago's Big Ten Team returns to the field on Tuesday, as they return to Chicago for a game against UIC. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. CT. The 'Cats will then head to Spartanburg, South Carolina for a game against West Carolina University and two games against South Carolina-Upstate.
