Community Group of the Game Spotlight: Special Spectators

Supported by Northwestern Medicine, Northwestern Athletics will spotlight a 'Community Group of the Game' during each week of a home or away football game.
As we head into the Big Ten Championship Game weekend, the athletic department recognizes Special Spectators, a nonprofit based in Chicago that creates VIP all-access game day experiences at sporting events for seriously ill children and their families.
In keeping with the mission of Special Spectators, the Northwestern football team has hosted Special Spectators families at several home games. During the visit, Special Spectators fans had the opportunity to tour the team locker room, meet both head coach Pat Fitzgerald and student-athletes on the team, tour the press box and have their photograph taken on the field. Given the unusual circumstances of this year, the hope is that the athletic department can carry on the tradition of creating a memorable game day for Special Spectators next month through a unique at-home VIP experience.
