Get to know Paige Mott, one of our three first-year Wildcats! NUsports.com sat down for a Q and A with the forward from Jenkintown, Pa.

Q:
What was the best game you ever played and why was it your best game?
Paige Mott: My best game was probably my high school quarter finals. I think it was the best game because I did great in all my stats and in things that you don't keep track of. I was feeding the ball well, passing well. I was scoring and blocking shots. It was just an all-around good game for me.

Q: What made you choose Northwestern?
PM: My mom played in the Big Ten [Penn State] so I knew I wanted to play in the Big Ten too. The opportunities that I would have coming out of Northwestern and being coached by Coach Pop, Joe and Tange was really big for me. They've been really far and they know a lot of things and a lot of people. Their connections and networking with students here is great.

Q: What are the biggest challenges adjusting to college level basketball?
PM: I think I'm adjusting pretty well to college athletics. The hardest part for me would probably be conditioning and  nutrition. Waking up at six a.m. to go to practice and lift is definitely an adjustment. I think all the basketball stuff, I'm working really hard at. At least I'm trying to work really hard at. Not everyday is going to be perfect but for the most part it's been going good.

Q: What are you most excited about for this upcoming season, besides just being able to play?
PM: I'm most excited for our first game, after that I don't know what I'm going to be excited about. I just can't wait to play.

Q: Is there anything you're nervous about?
PM: I'm nervous that once we get into the games I'll have performance anxiety or something. That I'll just freeze up and forget everything. I'm doing a lot of extra work, like getting into the gym more, to try and prevent that. But I can still feel it.

Q: What's the best thing about being a Wildcat?
PM: I feel like there's already people and kids that look up to me and my teammates. That's just really exciting to have people look up to you. Recently we sang happy birthday to one of our faculty's daughters. Because of the pandemic she hadn't been able to come out to a practice, so that was really exciting to see.

Q: Who is your funniest teammate?
PM: Well really I think I'm the funniest, but if I had to choose somebody else I'd say Jordan.

Q: Goofs off the most at practice?
PM: That's Laya.

Q: Has the best tik tok account?
PM: Anna has the best Tik Tok account ever.
