Community Group of the Game Spotlight: Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association

Supported by Northwestern Medicine, Northwestern Athletics will spotlight a 'Community Group of the Game' during each week of a home or away football game. In this week's spotlight, the athletic department recognizes Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA).
NSSRA provides and facilitates year-round recreation programs and services for children, teens and adults with disabilities who live in its partner communities. For several years, Northwestern Athletics and NSSRA have had a fantastic partnership and have found ways to collaborate through volunteer opportunities, special events and athletic games. As one example, student-athletes on the swimming and diving teams joined NSSRA athletes at the organization's annual bowling tournament.
The NSSRA team encourages the Evanston community to consider supporting its capital campaign A Place to Belong: Building A Permanent Home for NSSRA. This initiative seeks to give NSSRA participants who compete for Gator Athletics a fully accessible, permanent home for training and competing purposes.
