Community Group of the Game Spotlight: McGaw YMCA Evanston

COMMUNITY GROUP OF THE GAME SPOTLIGHT: MCGAW YMCA
Supported by Northwestern Medicine, Northwestern Athletics will spotlight a 'Community Group of the Game' during each week of a home or away football game.
In this week's spotlight, the athletic department recognizes McGaw YMCA Evanston, a nonprofit that focuses on strengthening nearby communities through programs and services that nurture and enrich the lives of our youth, promote healthy living and embed the ideals of social responsibility.
The Wildcats men's basketball team welcomed a group of youth from McGaw YMCA to Welsh-Ryan Arena last fall. During the visit, the group had the opportunity to watch the end of the team's practice, learn more about Head Coach Chris Collin's career and shoot baskets with members on the team. The group left the arena with big smiles, autographed posters and Northwestern swag.
This visit illustrates one example of the athletic department's involvement with organizations in the community, such as McGaw YMCA. Every year Northwestern student-athletes make it a priority to find ways to inspire young children in the community to be the best they can be in school, in their athletic endeavors and in the community.
