Brunzell and Bacarizo Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

EVANSTON, IL – First-year Hannah Brunzell and sophomore Manu Bacarizo earned Big Ten Weekly honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.
In her first meet of the weekend, Brunzell captured an individual win in the 100 breast and a second place finish in the 200 IM against Northern Arizona and Arizona. The first-year also won a second event in the 400 medley relay.
Brunzell won even more accolades in the second event of the weekend against Arizona State. The Swedish native took home two individual wins in the 100 and 200 breast and a second place in the 200 IM. She added a third win as a member of the 400 medley relay team to earn her fourth Big Ten freshman of the week honors.
Bacarizo found the top of the podium three times against Arizona and Northern Arizona, taking gold individually in the 100 and 200 back while adding a third first place finish as the backstroke leg of the 400 medley relay team.
The sophomore backstroker continued rolling on Sunday against Arizona State, finishing first in the 200 back and second in the 100 back.
The 'Cats will be back in the pool twice this week, starting on Thursday with a meet against Louisville and again this weekend for the NASA Invite.
