Sheridan Leads 'Cats on Day One of Tri-Dual

West Lafayette, IN - Junior Calypso Sheridan led Northwestern with two individual wins and a relay win as they faced off against two Big Ten opponents Friday night at the Minnesota/Purdue Tr-Dual.
Sheridan and the Wildcats started off with a relay win in the 200 medley with the team of junior Sophie Angus, sophomore Miriam Guevara and junior Maddie Smith touching in a time of 1:40.17.
First-year Aleksa Bobar led the 'Cats 1-3-6 finish in the 200 free, followed by first-year Ben Forbes and junior Liam Gately.
Sheridan was back in the pool for 100 back to lead the 1-4-7 finish of sophomore Emma Lepisova and senior Nicole Aarts in a time of 54.42. On the men's side, sophomore Manu Bacarizo bested his competition by over a second touching in a time of 48.79.
The 'Cats swept the 200 fly with sophomore Miriam Guevara and first-year Ben Miller both leading a group of Wildcats, touching in 2:01.66 and 1:49.18 respectively. NU continued their dominance in the 50 free with Smith and first-year Federico Burdisso both earning top spots with times of 2:01.66 and 1:49.18. Sheridan came back in the 200 IM to earn her second individual win of the night, in a time of 2:00.57.
NU closed out day one with a win in the men's 800 free relay, with the team of Bobar, Forbes, sophomore Ryan Gridley and F. Burdisso touching in a time of 6:34.87 to best their competition by almost four seconds.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will be back in the pool tomorrow morning start at 11 am CT.
