EVANSTON, Ill. - Backed by a career day from senior Abi Scheid, the Wildcats took home a dominant 85-59 win over Penn State on Sunday afternoon at Welsh-Ryan Arena.Β
The victory improves the 'Cats to 16-2 on the season and 6-1 in conference play. They remain tied with Iowa atop the Big Ten.
Scheid led the team with 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting and a career high six three-pointers. Included in the total was her 1000th career point, made on her first shot of the game. She becomes the second active player to reach the milestone, joining junior Lindsey Pulliam.Β
The 'Cats put together one of their best offensive games of the year. Their 85 points were a new season high, and their 51% shooting ranks second this season. Sophomore Veronica Burton continued her impressive performance, too, tying a new career-high with nine assists along with six points.
