EVANSTON, Ill. – Ahead of the 2020 season, head coach Spencer Allen has announced the addition of Andrew Dickson as the new volunteer assistant coach to the Wildcats' baseball staff.
Dickson joins Northwestern after two years at Lafayette. His primary responsibility at Northwestern will be working with the infielders.
"We truly feel lucky to have Andrew as part of our staff here at Northwestern," Allen said. "His background working at various levels with a number of different positions on the field excites me. Andrew will take our infielders to another level and is going to be instrumental in our overall success."
Prior to his arrival at Lafayette, Dickson spent two seasons as the head coach at NAIA Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky, leading the Bearcat program to back-to-back River States Conference Tournament berths.
Dickson also spent two seasons prior to Brescia as the recruiting coordinator at NAIA power Indiana University Southeast. He was a part of back-to-back second place finishes in the River States Conference Tournament and helped lead the Grenadiers to a 42-win season in 2015.
In his 6 years of coaching at the collegiate level, Dickson has coached 10 all-conference infielders and has lead offenses that have ranked inside the top 25 at the NAIA level in batting average and doubles in 2015.
Dickson is a native of Oneonta, New York where he played baseball at Oneonta Senior High School. He attended Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, New York where he was a two-year starter at second base and was named team captain for his sophomore year. Dickson helped lead the Hawks to consecutive regional final four appearances during his time at MVCC.
Following his playing career at MVCC, Dickson attended Brescia University where he became a utility man and started games in six different positions for the Bearcats.
Dickson then graduated from Brescia with a bachelor's degree in integrated studies with a concentration in psychology and political science.
