EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern's Danny Katz of the baseball team and Lee Or of the women's tennis team have been recognized by the Big Ten as Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2018-19 academic year. The pair was chosen from a group of more than 350 exemplary student-athletes who displayed positive sportsmanship throughout the year.

One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree, and two Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners were then selected from each institution. All of the Sportsmanship Award winners have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, these honorees must be in good academic standing and must have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Katz made 55 appearances for the Wildcats during his career, including 90.0 innings pitched and four career starts. The Winnetka, Illinois, native was responsible for five wins during his time in a Northwestern uniform and he helped NU wrap up at win at Milwaukee this season with the first save of his career. An Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Katz was a member of the executive board of NU for Life – a unique program dedicated to the professional development of Northwestern student-athletes. Katz will graduate in June with a degree in economics and has accepted a job with HBR Consulting.

Or was a model of consistency for the Wildcats during her career and helped Northwestern earn four NCAA tournament berths, one Big Ten regular season title and NU's first trip to ITA Indoor Nationals since 2014. She went 16-5 in singles play against Big Ten opponents over her final two seasons and was recognized as an All-Big Ten player in 2018. A talented doubles player, Or combined for 69 doubles wins in her career, including 28 overall wins as a junior and an 8-3 mark against Big Ten opponents as a senior. An Academic All-Big Ten honoree, Or graduates in June with degree in economics.
