ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Arlington International Racecourse will once again turn purple and white to celebrate Northwestern Day on Sunday, June 2.
Gates open at noon and festivities begin at 1:15 p.m. with world-class thoroughbred horse racing. Wildcats coaches will be on hand to meet fans, and the Northwestern University Marching Band and Willie the Wildcat will entertain fans with special performances and photo opportunities.
Chicago's Big Ten Team and Arlington Park have teamed up to mark the celebration with special events for fans of all ages to enjoy all day. One of the day's highlights is a Northwestern University Cup with each racehorse saddled with Wildcats-branded saddlecloth. Northwestern and Arlington representatives will have a special presentation in the Winner's Circle immediately following the race. Fans can enter a raffle for a chance to win four Northwestern football tickets to a 2019 nonconference game, or pregame sideline passes.
"We have had a great relationship with Northwestern for years now, and are proud to host the administration, coaches, students, alumni and fans to Northwestern Day, which began in 2011," said Arlington Park President Tony Petrillo. "We love the energy of the marching band, the antics of Willie the Wildcat and the celebration of the excellence of Northwestern University and we hope to continue this partnership and make it stronger each year."
Northwestern fans have the opportunity to purchase general admission tickets for 50% off the regular price when using the code NUDAY 2019 at the Arlington website. More information on Arlington International Racecourse, including parking and directions, can be found at ArlingtonPark.com.
