EVANSTON, Ill. - Following three days of trials that began with 35 hopefuls, Northwestern's Lindsey Pulliam was named to the 12-member roster for the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games Women's Basketball Team. It was announced Monday morning.

The team was selected by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee and are pending approval of the United States Olympic Committee.

"I'm beyond blessed to be given this opportunity and I'm so excited to represent USA basketball. I wouldn't be where I am now without my family, my teammates and my coaches. I thank God for this opportunity. I am really excited," said Pulliam.

The consensus First Team All-Big Ten honoree started all 36 games this season for Northwestern and led the team in scoring for the second consecutive year. In the Wildcats' WNIT Championship run, Pulliam etched her name in the NU record book as the fastest player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone.

The 2019 Pan American Games will gather around 6,700 athletes, who will participate in 39 sports and 62 disciplines, of which 22 disciplines are qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

"Congratulations to Lindsey and her family! It is a great honor to represent your country and Northwestern in such a prestigious event as the Pan Am games. She showed at USA Basketball trials how talented she is and how unselfish she is as a teammate. We're really proud of her," said Head Coach Joe McKeown.

Pulliam and the rest of the U.S. Pan Am Team will return to Colorado Springs for training camp, July 23-Aug. 5, before competing in the women's basketball tournament at the 2019 Pan American Games from Aug. 6-10 in Lima, Peru.
