'Cats Host No. 18 Michigan, Michigan State this Weekend

EVANSTON, Ill. — No. 25 Northwestern host No. 18 Michigan and Michigan State in league action this weekend. The Wildcats are set to battle the Wolverines on Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. before taking on the Spartans on Sunday, April 7, at 11 a.m. Both matches are scheduled to be played at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center (outdoor courts) located at 2310 Sheridan Road.
Live stats will be available for both matches but streams for each contest are only available if the matches move indoors for weather. Stay tuned to @NUWildcatTennis for updates.
Northwestern will be giving away free tank tops for all fans, while supplies last, at Saturday's match and will serve free brunch items beginning at 10:30 a.m., while supplies last. Free pizza will be handed out, while supplies last, at Sunday's match during the doubles and singles break.
Northwestern (11-5, 5-0 B1G) enters the contest having won five straight matches. First year Clarissa Hand, who is ranked No. 37 in the latest Oracle/ITA singles rankings, has seen all the action at the No. 1 singles position this season. The Wildcats are a combined 24-6 in Big Ten singles matches this season. Hand and teammate Lee Or are ranked No. 40 in doubles action, while Julie Byrne and Hannah McColgan checked in at No. 82.
Michigan (11-4, 7-0 B1G) has won six straight matches heading into the weekend. The Wolverines topped No. 19 Ohio State, 4-1, last time out (March 31) for their fourth ranked win of the season. Michigan has four players in the national singles rankings: Kate Fahey (4), Chiara Lommer (28), Brienne Minor (49) and Giulia Pairone (85), while the pairing of Fahey and Minor check in a No. 33 for doubles play.
Northwestern and Michigan split in their meetings last season with both matches resulting in 4-3 decisions. The Wildcats claimed the Big Ten regular season title, while the Wolverines edged out NU for the tournament title.
Michigan State (12-9, 3-4 B1G) takes on Illinois on Saturday before traveling to Evanston for Sunday's match. Northwestern is 38-0 all-time versus the Spartans.
