’Cats Rack Up Season-Best Times in California

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern women's cross country ran eight season-best times and a trio of Wildcats posted top-10 program performances in their respective events this weekend at three meets in California.
Junior Sarah Nicholson ran the third-fasted 10,000-meter time in program history and finished 24th at the Mt. Sac Relays on Thursday evening to get things started.
First years Rachel McCardell and Olivia Verbeke also posted top-10 program times at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Long Beach State Invitational.
McCardell finished 13th in the 1,500-meter at the Bryan Clay, crossing the finish line in a season-best 4:34.90. Verbeke finished fourth in her heat at Long Beach State with a season-best 2:21.50.
Kelly O'Brien and Aubrey Roberts continued to build on their strong junior campaigns with season-best times in invitational portion of the 1,500-meter at the Bryan Clay. O'Brien crossed the finish line in 4:25.59 and Roberts posted a 4:35.00.
First year Hannah Hall and sophomore Hannah Tobin finished 30th and 31st, respectively, in the 5,000-meter at the Bryan Clay Invitational with season-best times of 18:11.49 and 18:16.36.
First year Sara McCoy rounded out the season-best performances on the weekend, running a 4:56.36 in the 1,500-meter at Long Beach State to finish third in heat seven.
The Wildcats will be back in action on May 3 when they travel to the NIU Classic in DeKalb, Illinois.
