No. 12 Northwestern Falls to No. 2 Vanderbilt

EVANSTON, Ill. — No. 12 Northwestern jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point, but No. 2 Vanderbilt rallied to win five singles matches to top the Wildcats, 5-2, Sunday afternoon.
Julie Byrne and Hannah McColgan beat Vanberbilt's Summer Dvorak and Christina Rosca at the No. 2 doubles spot, 6-3, while Rheeya Doshi and Caroline Pozo picked up a 6-4 decision in No. 3 doubles to give the Wildcats the doubles point.
Caroline Pozo was the lone Northwestern player to win a singles match. Pozo defeated Summer Dvorak, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).
Both Lee Or and Rheeya Doshi won their opening sets but couldn't manage to hold off the Commodores.
Northwestern returns to action next weekend in Seattle for the 2019 ITA Tennis National Indoor Championships.
