DeAugustino, Jessen, Davison Win Titles at Last Chance Open

AMES, Iowa — Three redshirt Wildcats won titles at Iowa State's Last Chance Open on Sunday.
Michael DeAugustino (125), Jack Jessen (184), and Lucas Davison (197) all won crowns in the one-day event. Erich Byelick (165) took second place in the tournament.
DeAugustino won the championship bout via 7-4 decision over Iowa State's Corey Cabanban, improving his unattached record to 11-8. This is the second open that DeAugustino has finished in the top-three, adding to his third-place performance at the Cleveland State Open (Dec. 15, 2018).
Jessen began his tournament in impressive fashion, tallying an 11-0 major decision over Iowa State's Alec McDowell. He won out, lifting his record to 12-7, and earning his third top-three mark this season.
Davison improved upon his sterling performance at the Midlands Championships with three wins over grapplers from three different schools. His record stands at 12-4 and has now won five-straight bouts, dating back to his performance at Midlands.
Byelick won his first two bouts by a combined score of 22-4 before dropping the championship bout via decision. His season mark stands at 12-9 and has placed at the Lindenwood Open, the Cleveland State Open, and now the Last Chance Open.
Jack Heyob (285) also competed in the late-season event, wresting a pair of bouts.
NU's wrestling team is back in action for the season finale on February 23 against SIUE. The dual will be held at the new Ryan Fieldhouse on the shores of Lake Michigan and will be held at 2 p.m.
