Northwestern Falls Short at Purdue, 61-58

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.– Lindsey Pulliam paced the Wildcats with 16 points and three steals for her 25th consecutive double-digit scoring performance in Northwestern's nail-biting finish in Mackey Arena, Sunday night.
The sophomore captain knocked down a contested jumper to tie the game with 34 seconds left but Purdue's Karissa McLaughlin responded with a triple in the Boilermakers' final possession to give the home team the victory, 61-58.
In a game that saw seven lead changes and eight ties, Northwestern committed only nine turnovers, compared to Purdue's 20. The Wildcats converted Boilermaker turnovers into 21 points and had 12 points off the bench. Abbie Wolf and Sydney Wood were key contributors with five points apiece.
Abi Scheid hit four of her six three point attempts in her second straight 14 point performance. The junior now leads the Wildcats in three-pointers with 34 on the season.
First-year Veronica Burton tallied seven points with three steals to bring her season total to 51. Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah pulled down 11 rebounds and added five points, marking the 50th game of her career with double-digit rebounds.
Chicago's Big Ten Team is back in action on Thursday, Feb. 21 as they return to Welsh-Ryan Arena to take on Nebraska. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
