EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern head coach Tim Lenahan announced the addition of Devin Rensing to the Wildcats' staff as an assistant coach Tuesday.

Rensing joins the Wildcat soccer program after spending the last two years in Madrid, Spain, where he earned his master's degree in Soccer Identification and Development in Talent from Europa Universidad at Real Madrid and was an International Scout for Major League Soccer's Sporting KC.

"We are excited to have Devin as part of our Northwestern soccer staff.  He brings a wealth of coaching experience and an incredible knowledge of the game," said Lenahan.  "He comes from a great soccer family with a father who played for the U.S. National Team and a brother who coaches at Michigan State. I am certain Devin will bring fresh ideas and a new drive in our pursuit to compete at the highest level as an elite Big Ten program."

Prior to his time in Spain, the St. Louis, Mo. native was the head coach at Stevens Institute of Technology, a Division III school in Hoboken, N.J. where he was named Empire 8 Conference Coach of the Year twice and led his team to the NCAA tournament all five seasons, including an Elite 8 and Sweet 16 appearance in his first two years at helm.

"I am honored to be given the opportunity to be on staff at one of the most prestigious universities in the world. It's a privilege to be working with these student-athletes and I am excited about the direction of the men's soccer program. I would like to thank Coach Lenahan, Dr. Phillips and the rest of the Northwestern community for welcoming me," Rensing added.

Rensing was also an assistant coach at Colgate University for four seasons (2007-10) where he he helped the Raiders capture the Patriot League Championship for the second time in program history and earn their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1966. He was also on staff at University of Central Arkansas during the program's transition from Division II to Division I in 2005 and at Loyola University of Chicago in 2006.

A 2001 graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in sociology, Rensing played two seasons for the Panthers as team captain. He played his first two years of collegiate soccer at Forest Park Community College.
