'Cats Finish 5th at Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Northwestern Wildcats finished 5th out of 26 teams at the Pre-Nationals Invitational at the LaVerne Gibson Championship Course. The highly competitive field of 63 teams was split into two groups, the White Race and the Blue Race.

After nearly three weeks off of competition, the Wildcats finished with a team time of 1:50:57.20.

"Our training has improved immensely over the last three weeks and we were able to show that progress today," said Head Coach Jill Miller. "I am proud of this group's commitment and grit out on the course today. We are looking forward to two weeks of prep for the Big Ten Championships."

Three Wildcats placed in the top-30.

Sophomore Rachel McCardell earned a top-20 finish with a time of 21:24.3. for 14th place. Senior Kelly O'Brien who finished 26th with a 21:47.4 time and Sarah Nicholson clocked in at 21:53.0. for 30th.

Northwestern is back in action Nov. 3, as they prepare for the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, OH.
