FINAL SINGLES DRAW | FINAL DOUBLES DRAW
TOURNAMENT WRAP UP: Julie Byrne made a run to the quarterfinals of the singles draw before falling to top-seeded Asuka Kawai (Illinois), 6-1, 6-4.
Byrne picked up a pair of wins along the way, defeating Illinois' Emilee Duong, 6-3, 6-3, and Ohio State's Danielle Wolf, 6-4, 6-1.
After three Northwestern doubles teams advanced to the round of 16, both Byrne and Hannah McColgan and Inci Ogut and Christina Hand advanced to the quarterfinals
DAY TWO: Christina Hand advanced qualified for the main singles draw by beating Notre Dame's Zoe Taylor, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
Hand joins Hannah McColgan, Julie Byrne, Inci Ogut and Caroline Pozo in the main draw, which will get underway Saturday.
In doubles action, Northwestern had three duos advance to the Round of 16. Caroline Pozo and Briana Crowley posted a 8-4 win over Illinois' Yeah/Ingle in the second round after a bye. Inci Ogut and Christina Hand posted an 8-4 win over DePaul's Jovicic/Avegeri in the second round. Hannah McColgan and Julie Byrne secured their spot in the round of 16 with a 8-7 (5) win over Illinois' Duong/Frazier.
DAY TWO UPDATED DRAWS
(DAY ONE): Vanessa Streng picked up a pair of wins to open up the singles qualifying draw at ITA Midwest Regional Championships. Streng topped Bowling Green's Marta Bettinelli, 6-2, 6-0, before beating DePaul's Maddie Yergler, 6-0, 6-2. Christina Hand won in her opening round, defeating Eastern Michigan's Emma-Lou Pommiers, 6-2, 6-1.

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern women's tennis opens up play at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships tomorrow at Michigan State. The weekend begins with singles play featuring the Wildcats' Christina Hand and Vanessa Streng on Thursday, Oct. 17 and runs through Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Streng opens up in qualifying singles at 8 a.m. CT, against Bowling Green's Marta Bettinelli, while Hand is slated to play at 10:30 a.m. CT versus Eastern Michigan's Emma-Lou Pommiers.
