Kim Posts First Career Top-25 Finish at Stanford Intercollegiate

PALO ALTO, Calif. — First year Irene Kim shot an even-par 71 for the second-straight day to post her first career top-25 finish at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Condoleezza Rice.
Kim finished the 54-hole tournament tied for 21st at 2-over, while sophomore Kelly Sim finished tied for 26th (+4) and senior Brooke Riley tied for 32nd (+5), respectively.
A California native playing her first collegiate tournament in her home state, Kim led the Wildcats over the weekend with 31 pars and 13 birdies. She tied for fourth in the 90-player field in birdies over the three days. She stumbled out of the gates Sunday, starting with a bogey on No. 12 and a double bogey on No. 13, but made the turn 2-over thanks to a birdie at No. 16. Kim settled in after the turn with three-straight birdies starting at No. 1.

Sim moved up 28 spots in the final round for her tied for 26th finish thanks to a season-best 3-under, 68. The sophomore made a team-best six birdies in the final round. She led the 'Cats in par-5 scoring at 4-under and was tied for eighth in the field with 11 birdies.
The Wildcats posted their best round of the weekend and matched a season-best round score of 288 to move up three spots on the final day and finish the 17-team tournament tied for 11th. In addition to Riley's final round 2-over, 73, sophomore Julia Tournant rounded out the scoring with a 5-over, 76.
The tournament concluded the 'Cats' fall slate as they will return to action in February when they head to the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Luis Obispo, Puerto Rico.
