Rachel Lewis Named to Player of the Year Watch List

EVANSTON, Ill. – Sophomore Rachel Lewis was named to the Collegiate Player of Year Watch List as announced by USA Softball on Thursday.
The group comprises 50 of the top players in the country and Lewis is one of 10 sophomores nationwide to crack the list. Lewis is also one of just five Big Ten players named by USA Softball.
Lewis broke onto the scene in 2018 with a wildly impressive rookie campaign for the 'Cats, earning honors for the NFCA All-American second team and NFCA All-Region First team, as well as an unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten first team.
The Ohio native slashed .351/.484/.754 from behind the plate, and she claimed the regular season RBI (59) and runs scored (53) titles in the Big Ten. Her final season total of 64 RBIS ranked 11th in the nation.
Lewis and the rest of the Wildcats kick off their season in just over a week, starting action at the Titan Classic on Friday, Feb. 8, hosted by Cal State Fullerton. The 'Cats will face off against five separate teams in their first weekend of play.
