DEFIANCE, Ohio. – Brooke Riley fired the low score at the 2018 Ohio Women's Open at Eagle Rock Golf Club, to take home Top Amateur honors at the professional event.
2018 Ohio Women's Open - RESULTS
The Wildcats rising junior carded an opening round 70, and backed that up with a second-round 68. Her 138 was the top amateur score by four strokes, and bettered professional champion Jessica Porvasnik (a 2017 Ohio State graduate and four-time All-Big Ten honoree) by one shot.
Riley finished her sophomore campaign with a terrific spring, highlighted by a final round 66 at the NCAA Madison Regional that secured Northwestern's trip to the 2018 NCAA Championships in Stillwater.
Northwestern returns three of its five starters this fall, with seniors Stephanie Lau and Janet Mao joining the Manteca, California, native. Head coach Emily Fletcher and assistant Beth Miller have the unenviable task of replacing two of the best in program history, graduates Sarah Cho and Hannah Kim, and will welcome a highly-regarded recruiting class to Evanston this September.

TECHNICALLY @_brooke_riley couldn't "win" the Ohio Women's Open because she's an amateur...

...but NOBODY in the field went lower than the rising junior's 138 (70-68) over the 36-hole competition! ??#B1GCats pic.twitter.com/JY5zqbzqGO
