Triplett Advances In Day Three of NCAA Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. — After finishing three rounds at Karsten Creek with a 3-over total, senior Sam Triplett was one of the top nine individuals from non-advancing teams who will compete on Monday in the final round of stroke play.

Northwestern finished in a tie for 16th place, only two strokes off the top-15 cutline. NU moved up three places and their 8-over round was the best among teams teeing off in the afternoon wave.
NU posted its best team finish at the NCAA Championships since an eighth-place finish in 2000.
Both Triplett and first-year Eric McIntosh — who was subbed in for Sunday's round — finished at even-par. McIntosh posted a clean back-nine, featuring two birdies. Triplett made nine-straight pars in his back nine.
Ryan Lumsden (+7; T68), Dylan Wu (+8; T79), Everton Hawkins (+10; T89), and Pete Griffith (+7, N/A) round out the Wildcats' entrants.
Triplett will tee off at 11:40 a.m. on Monday, paired with Patrick Fishburn (BYU) and Justin Kim (UNLV). He is tied for 39th place at 3-over, trailing the leader Bryson Nimmer (Clemson), who is 9-under.
