EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern seniors Erin Larner and Maddie Lipp learned their first-round matchups for the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships on Tuesday.

In the Singles Championship, the 38th-ranked Larner will compete against Kristina Mathis of Dartmouth at 7 a.m. Central time on Wednesday, May 23. Mathis is ranked No. 109 by the ITA and is the automatic qualifier from the Ivy League. The winner of that matchup will play the winner of the match between Syracuse's fifth-seeded Gabriela Knutson and Auburn's Jaeda Daniel in the second round on Thursday.

Larner boasts a 17-2 dual match record, including a perfect 9-0 record against Big Ten foes during the regular season. She is the lone Big Ten player to earn spots in both the Singles and Doubles Championships.

The duo of Larner and Lipp are ranked fourth nationally and are the No. 4 seed in the Doubles Championship. They received an automatic bid based upon being the highest-ranked Big Ten team. They will take on the 19th-ranked team of Anna Rogers and Claudia Wiktorin of North Carolina State on Thursday, May 24 at a time to be determined.

Larner and Lipp have a 19-4 record in dual match play this season and have been ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation.

This is Larner's first selection to either NCAA championship competition. It will be the third time that Lipp will participate in doubles, doing so each of the last two years alongside Alex Chatt. Lipp also competed in the singles championship in 2016.

The NCAA Women's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships will get underway May 23 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on the campus of Wake Forest University following the completion of the NCAA Women's Tennis Team Championship. Complete brackets can be found at the top of the page.
