Roberts, Albers Lead Way As 'Cats Kick Off Outdoor Campaign

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Northwestern kicked off the 2018 outdoor track season Friday in northern California split across two Bay Area events, the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, and the Stanford Invitational.

Aubrey Roberts was the lone Wildcats representative at the latter meet, the 2018 Stanford Invitational. The sophomore ran a blazing 16:10.04 in the 5000M, a personal best that knocked an astonishing 11-seconds off the Northwestern record in her outdoor season debut.
In San Francisco, Haley Albers started the day off with a personal record of 37:34.19 in the 10,000M, the meet's longest and most grueling event. Sophomore Sarah Nicholson paces a quartet of 'Cats in the 5000M, crossing the line in 17:48.10. Classmate Kelly O'Brien turned in the best Northwestern time in the 1500M, a 4:38.93, while Isabel Seidel clocked an 11:14.49 in the 3000M Steeplechase, her 2018 debut in the event.
The Wildcats will get right back on the track at the Benedictine Duals this weekend (April 7) in Lisle, Illinois, before returning to the west coast in the middle of April for the Bryan Clay Invitational.
