HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – No. 13 Northwestern women's golf returns to the course on Friday at the elite Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of South Carolina and the Grammy Award-winning recording artist at Long Cove Club (Par-72; 6,296 yards).

The 18-team field features six of the Top-9 teams in the nation, and nine of the Top-17. In addition to the No. 13 Wildcats, the leaderboard includes No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 8 South Carolina, No. 9 Furman, No. 14 Oklahoma State, No. 17 Virginia, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
Head coach Emily Fletcher's lineup will feature seniors Sarah Cho and Hannah Kim, juniors Stephanie Lau and Janet Mao, and sophomore Brooke Riley. The Wildcats will be paired in Friday's opening round with Furman and LSU, set to tee off on No. 10 beginning at 9:20 a.m. ET.
The weekend forecast at Hilton Head calls for sunny skies, and temperatures in the low-to-mid-60's during the day. Winds are expected to gust towards the NW at 13-16mph with limited humidity.
Northwestern opened the spring season in mid-February at the NorthropGrumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. Kim and Mao led the way for the 'Cats with Top-25 results. The duo have been the most reliable fixtures in the lineup for Fletcher and assistant coach Beth Miller with Kim, the two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, posting a team-best 71.94 scoring average through 16 rounds this season, and Mao right behind at 72.88 and a team-best three rounds in the 60's.
