Tough Opponents Await No. 12 'Cats at Northrop Grumman Challenge

EVANSTON, Ill. — The No. 12 Northwestern women's golf team will head west to Palos Verdes, California, for the three-day Northrop Grumman Challenge held at the prestigious Palos Verdes Golf Club (Par-71, 6,017 yards) on February 11-13.
LIVE SCORING
The competition will feature some of the most elite golf talent in the nation, with 12 of the 18 teams nationally ranked, including four of the top five squads.
No. 12 Northwestern will join No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Alabama, No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 8 Oklahoma State, No. 10 Texas, No. 11 USC, No. 18 Florida, No. 23 Wake Forest, and No. 25 Washington on the links.
The rest of the field includes Arizona, Baylor, Ohio State San Diego State, Tennessee, and UNLV.
Day one of competition will tee off Sunday, February 11, and day two will begin on Monday February 12, both at 11 a.m. CT.
The final round will be on Tuesday, February 13, with a 10:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
For the Wildcats, their lineup will be: Hannah Kim, Stephanie Lau, Janet Mao, Brooke Riley, and Sarah Cho. Monica Matsubara will be joining Northwestern as an individual entry.
Northwestern resumes their season with their first competition since the prestigious East Lake Cup in October.
Hannah Kim took home a 3&1 victory over Arizona State's Madison Kerley, but the Wildcats ended with a narrow 2-1-2 loss to the Sun Devils. Janet Mao and Brooke Riley also earned points for the 'Cats in the match.
Palos Verdes Golf Club was designed by George Thomas and William Bell and was opened for play in 1924. It is an ideal venue for this event with its demanding design, hilly lies, small greens, and beautiful ocean views.
