UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Junior forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah continued to make history on Wednesday night when she climbed to second on the program's single-season rebound list against Penn State at the Bryce Jordan Center.
Kunaiyi-Akpanah entered the night with 291 rebounds this season and grabbed 14 more against the Nittany Lions to jump four spots.
In doing so, she surpassed Amy Jaeschke (2010-11), Julie Calahan (1980-81), and Nia Coffey (2016-17). She trails all-time leader Nia Coffey (2015-16) by 39 rebounds.
Kunaiyi-Akpanah also posted her team-high 15th double-double of the season in the contest. She also posted four steals in the game, having now amassed a combined 12 steals in her last two competitions.
First-year guard Lindsey Pulliam scored in double figures for the sixth-straight game with 11 points.
Trailing after one period, the 'Cats utilized a strong offense in the second quarter to erase an early Nittany Lions lead. NU bested PSU, 19-11, in the period.
A Kunaiyi-Akpanah step-back jumper with 32 seconds remaining in the first half evened up the score at 26 points apiece entering halftime. The Abuja, Nigeria, native amassed 10 points in the first two periods.
Penn State rallied in the fourth quarter to down the Wildcats, 67-59.
Northwestern hosts Illinois in its next game on Sunday, February 18, for NU's Play4Kay "Pink Game" at historic Beardsley Gym. The Wildcats' penultimate home contest — and antepenultimate contest of the regular season — will tip off at 2 p.m. CT.
