Northwestern Swim and Dive Announces 18 new ‘Cats to the Class of 2023

EVANSTON, Ill. – Monday afternoon Northwestern Director of Swimming and Diving, Jeremy Kipp announced the newest additions to Northwestern Swim & Dive. In the first recruiting class under Kipp's new direction, the 'Cats are adding ten women and eight men to the 2019 roster.
"On behalf of my entire staff we are incredibly excited to welcome our first group of Wildcats and we can't wait to see the impact that they have on our program over the next four years," said Kipp. "This year's graduating class has shown tremendous leadership and have had an unparalleled impact on our program and university as a whole, and while they can never be replaced we feel that this incoming group will help us continue to grow as a program and add depth in areas that we believe are important for our overall growth and success as a team. I'm incredibly proud of this staff and the way that they have hit the ground running to find what I believe it one of the strongest recruiting classes in the country and athletes that will help us continue to build on the success of this season as we look towards the future of the Northwestern Swimming and Diving program and becoming a dominate power in the Big Ten and nation."
Among the men, the Wildcats will be adding brothers Federico and Alessandro Burdisso of Pavia, Italy. Federico competed at the LEN European Junior Championship in the 100 and 200 Fly where he finished third and second respectively. He also competed at the 2018 European Championships where he earned a bronze metal and set the Italian national junior record in the 200 Fly. The 'Cats will also be adding Hong Kong's Marcus Mok, who currently holds two national records and is a part of the Hong Kong National Swimming team.
The men will be joined by Ethan Churilla (Highland, Ind.), Ben Forbes (Fresno, Calif.), Ryan King (Montrose, Colo.), Ben Miller (Tigard, Ore.) and diver Henry Schirmer (Ann Arbor, Mich.)
On the women's side, the 'Cats will add Yulia Groysman of Bellevue, Washington who competed at the Speedo Junior National Championships, Milan Hilde-Jones of Stanford, California who competed at the FINA Swimming World Cups, USA Swimming Futures Championship and is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. Diver Markie Hopkins, will also be joining the 'Cats after a tenth and third place finish in the 1M and platform dives at the 2018 Junior National Championships.
The 'Cats will also be joined by Lizzy Follmer (Lafayette, Calif.), Imge-Roza Erdemli (Turkey), Ally Larson (Edina, Minn.), Emma Lepisova (Foster City, Calif.), Danielle Nowaski (Santee, Calif.), Leah Parsons (La Jolla, Calif.) and Jaye Patrick (Chula Vista, Calif.)
