Rosendahl, Hellmer and Gridley Secure Big Ten Weekly Honors

EVANSTON, ILL. – Three Wildcats brought home Big Ten Athlete of the Week awards after both the men's and women's teams swept their home openers against UIC, Chicago and Illinois.
Jasmine Hellmer received her first Freshman of the Week award after an impressive performance in the quad-dual meet last week with Illinois, UIC, and Chicago. Hellmer out touched her competition in the 100 and 200 fly with times of 55.92 and 2:02.14 respectively and came in second in the 100 free with a time of 52.13. She also swam anchor on the 400 free relay to help the team secure a win in 3:27.98.
First year Ryan Gridley also earned his first Freshman of the Week award after a dominate showing at the men's tri-dual meet against UIC and Chicago. Gridley brought home two individual wins, while also contributing to the two winning Wildcat relays. In the 200 back and free, he out swam the competition touching in 1:50.65 and 1:39.93 respectively and in the relays, swam lead off in both the 200 medley relay that won in 1:39.89 and the 400 free relay that bested the competition by almost 7 seconds in 3:02.95.
All-American Olivia Rosendahl received her sixth Big Ten Diver of the Week award after sweeping both the 1 meter (302.10) and 3 meter (314.35) in the Quad-Dual meet while also putting up qualifying marks for NCAA Zone Championships.
The 'Cats will be back in action next weekend at Princeton for a two day competition on October 9 and 10.
